Flagstaff, AZ is located in the northern part of Arizona. Flagstaff lies near the southwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau and along the western side of the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the continental United States. Flagstaff is also located adjacent to Mount Elden, just south of the San Francisco Peaks. This is the highest mountain range in the state of Arizona.
Flagstaff has a considerably low violent crime rate and is home of Lowell Observatory and Northern Arizona University. Because of this tourism is a large part of Flagstaff's economy. There are 5 industrial parks located in the city: Gore-Tex, Nestlé Purina PetCare, SCA Tissue, Joy Cone, and Walgreens.
Despite the town's small size, Flagstaff has quite an active local cultural scene. A variety of weekend festivals, concerts, and theater groups.

Winter sports, including snowshoeing, Alpine and Nordic skiing, are also popular in the area, and the surrounding National Forests provide a vast network of roads and trails for winter use.
