Ely, NV (pronounced Eee-Lee) is a city in White Pine County. Ely is a mining town, suffering through the boom and bust cycles so common in the West. Originally Ely was home to a number of copper mining companies. Liberty Pit became the world's largest open-pit mine at its peak, but with a crash in the copper market in the mid 1970s Copper mining disappeared (temporarily).
Some of its attractions include the Nevada Northern Railway Museum, The Ghost Train of Old Ely... a fully functioning steam engine passenger train that regularly plies the historic tracks from Ely to the Robinson mining district, and the nearby Great Basin National Park. It is also the nearest town to the proposed site of the Clock of the Long Now on Mount Washington.
An organized community effort to bring about the introduction of culture and fine art into the community resulted in the formation of a group called the Ely Renaissance Society. This movement has financed over twenty outdoor murals and sculptures in the downtown area. Artists from all over the world have been commissioned to create images of our history using a variety of different art styles.

Just wanted to thank you for treating me so well the other day. I really appreciate how friendly and helpful you were. As I am sure you know, this whole roommate thing can be frustrating and stressful. It was nice to be treated as a person, and not just another customer. Thanks again.
