Flagstaff, AZ is located in the northern part of Arizona. Flagstaff lies near the southwestern edge of the Colorado Plateau and along the western side of the largest contiguous ponderosa pine forest in the continental United States. Flagstaff is also located adjacent to Mount Elden, just south of the San Francisco Peaks. This is the highest mountain range in the state of Arizona.

Flagstaff has a considerably low violent crime rate and is home of Lowell Observatory and Northern Arizona University. Because of this tourism is a large part of Flagstaff's economy.
