Cowtown
Where the West Begins
Fort Worth, TX is located in North Texas near Dallas and was voted one of "America's Most Livable Communities." Fort Worth and the surrounding Metroplex area offer numerous business opportunities and a wide array of attractions.
Fort Worth still celebrates its colorful Western heritage that is deeply rooted in strong Southern influences. Fort Worth's legendary "Western heritage" was made possible by settlers from the Old South looking for a new start. Fort Worth can be called a "gateway" to a cultural region, sometimes referred to as the "Western South."
Some notable areas throughout the city are the downtown area, Stockyards historic district, the culture district, the parks district, Texas Christian University area, and Uptown.
While much of Fort Worth's sports attention is focused on the Metroplex's professional sports teams, the city does have its own athletic identity. TCU competes in NCAA Division I Athletics, including the football team that is consistently ranked in the Top 25, the baseball team that has competeted in the last three NCAA Tournaments, and the women's basketball team that has competed in the last seven NCAA Tournaments.
Fort Worth's higher education consists of Texas Christian University aka TCU, College of Saint Thomas More, Tarrant County College, and Texas Wesleyan University.
