Phoenix, AZ is the capital and most populous city in Arizona. In fact, it's the most populous capital city in the US and the 5th largest city in the US. Residents of Phoenix are known as Phoenicians. Phoenix has a very arid climate, and its average annual maximum temperature is the highest of any major US city.

Phoenix houses many sports teams including: the NBA's Phoenix Suns, NHL's Phoenix Coyotes, the MLB's Arizona Diamondbacks, the NFL's Arizona Cardinals, and the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury. Phoenix also has an arena football team, the Arizona Rattlers of the Arena Football League. The Phoenix International Raceway is a major venue for two NASCAR auto racing events per season.

Phoenix also has an array of outdoor activities to boast from amusement parks (Water World and Castles N Coasters) to Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park.

Higher education in Phoenix includes an ASU satellite campus. Another great university is Grand Canyon University which is the nations only private, for profit, Christian University. The University of Phoenix is also headquartered in Phoenix. This is the nation's largest private, for-profit university with over 130,000 students at campuses throughout the United States (including Puerto Rico), Canada, Mexico, and the Netherlands.
